Legislative issues to check out....are you having trouble with the new insurance carriers recognizing you as a provider?

Posted about 10 years ago by Karen Kilian

The NAPNAP legislative committee has been alerted to concerns regarding the new Affordable Care Act health care exchange policies denying ARNPs enrollment in their provider panels. In response to this concern the legislative committee is encouraging ARNPs to go to the Healthfinder exchange (www.wahealthplanfinder.org) and contact the insurance providers for their State (the providers for Washington State are listed below). The legislative committee recommends you present yourself as an ARNP and identify the county you practice in. Say that you have a patient that would like to enroll in their program and in order to continue providing care for this patient you would like to enroll in their provider panel. If you are told no, then ask to speak with the manager and get the denial in writing. Then please contact the Washington State Legislative chair, Jennifer Mannheim, with your details so this information can be shared on a State and National level. We have lobbyists that are representing us at a State and National level, but we need to know where the issues are. If you are experiencing other challenges with the health care exchange please contact Jennifer Mannheim at jennifer.mannheim@seattlechildrens.org
