In less than four decades, the rate of childhood obesity in the United States has more than tripled, growing from an obscure problem to a national crisis. Without lifestyle changes, children with obesity face a future of health problems that can include diabetes, hypertension and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. But Uma Pisharody, M.D., has a vision for guiding children and their families to a healthier future. Join Dr. Pisharody for a conversation about her Resilience program and how she wants to show—not tell— the shopping and eating strategies that will make a difference for the next generation.

Uma K. Pisharody, FAAP, M.D. Pediatric Gastroenterologist Dr. Pisharody was inspired by her own pediatrician to become an advocate for children’s health. She completed medical school at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in India, where her firsthand experiences with malnutrition and diarrheal diseases motivated her to become a pediatric gastroenterologist. She has been and advocate for healthy meals both at Swedish and at the state level. She is the co-medical director of Camp Oasis for children with inflammatory bowel diseases and serves as a medical advisor for multiple local organizations. Her goal in working with children is to ensure they feel listened to, seen and heard.

It will be entirely on Zoom.
