Posted about 5 years ago by Karen Kilian

This is a two day workshop (4 hours each day) that is being hosted by Youth Eastside Services (YES) which is located in Bellevue.  See below for details:

Youth Eastside Services is pleased to share that we are hosting a 2-day Youth Mental Health First Aid Training. The 8-hour certification course will be split into two 4-hour sessions on Wednesday, February 27 and March 6, from 4 to 8 p.m, at our YES Bellevue location.

If you're an adult who works, or engages with youth regularly, this course is for you! The course is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help a youth who are experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge or crisis.

The training introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. We will use role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to recognize and respond to the warning signs and symptoms of specific illnesses like anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and substance use disorders.

The course cost is $75 and includes a training manual and dinner. If you have any questions or issues with registering, please contact Suzanne Peterson at suzannep@youtheastsideservices.org
